We arrived back in South Africa on Monday evening. We started ministry on Tuesday afternoon and I went to a place called Atteridgeville. It's like a township or squatter camp- I'm not sure what it should be classified as other than a TON of small shacks covered over some hills. We went to a preschool/day care center and played and sang songs with the kids. Then we walked up to the highest point so we could look over the entire area. It was beautiful. Some street kids followed us up so we played with and talked to them (well they actually had no idea what we were saying and we couldn't understand them but it's amazing how much you can still communicate). We prayed over all of Atterideville and I could just feel God's presence over the place.
On Wednesday we went out in the morning and went to a house to have a bible study with a few men we met the previous day. It was a true picture of what the church was meant to be. There were 8 of us sitting outside his house on small wooden benches with bibles and that was it. We read Colossians 3:12-17 to start and it took off from there. For the next hour a half it was just discussion and bible reading and it was awesome! I learned so much and experienced the true body of Christ.
Thursday was rainy and cold but we went to his house again and waite
d for awhile but he didn't come. We played with the same street children and just loved on them. We went back to the same day care and played with those kids and part of the group was able to go back and meet to have the bible study. It's just amazing how we showed up to Atterideville and God just allowed things to happen. People and children came to us, the Lord gave us things to say, places to meet people and He directed everything that happened.
We have today at the mall and then we have a youth program tonight. They come to Alabanza (where are staying) and we have games, worship, crafts, and of course some dancing:) Tomorrow will also be an off day so that will be good to relax and hang out. I wish I could email/talk to all of you because I miss you all and have stories to fill hours. Thank you for all your support and I'll hopefully write again next week!
